Quick Afternoon post for ya.
Microsft acquired the rights to xboxone.com, and xboxone.net. 2 sites registered to some cat in the UK.
So did they buy the rights? did they make a deal with this dude? no...Not Microsoft, they did things they way only Microsoft can...they file a complaint with the National Arbitration Forum back in May.
Now Nintendo tried to do this to secure WIIU.com and failed. Sony on the other hand hasnt done anything to try and secure Playstation4.com
Now someone snagging the rights to a website so that it can later be sold is common practice. My own father did this when the internet hit its stride, and has sold the domain rights to a few sites, some for a decent sum of money. So either this guy was either unwilling to sell for anything less than a ridiculous sum ,or Microsoft is still a giant bullying corporation.
Either way...This story is lame, which is why it only get 10 minutes of my time.
